Marius J. Katilius, MD
Marius J. Katilius, MD, FACS is a board certified general surgeon practicing in Joliet Illinois. He grew up, studied in and lived most of his life in Chicago. He has spent over the last 12 years providing surgical services to patients in academic and urban settings in Joliet and the greater Chicago area. Dr Katilius began his practice in the area with Dr Wendy Marshall and The Center for Surgery and Breast Health. Dr Katilius is currently on staff at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Silver Cross Hospital as well as Morris Hospital. Dr Katilius also is on trauma services at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Morris Hospital and serves as the trauma director at Silver Cross Hospital. He also serves on multiple hospital committees at all three hospitals including vice-chair of the department of surgery and being an elected member of the medical executive committee at PSJMC.
Dr. Katilius graduated from Rush University, College of Medicine in Chicago and completed his residency in general surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He also completed his fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Henry Ford Hospital.
He developed and instituted a protocol for pronation of critically ill patients with ARDS in the Surgical ICU at Henry Ford Hospital in 1998. In October of 1999 Dr Katilius accompanied a small surgical team to Honduras and performed 50 surgeries in an eight bed mountain village hospital. Five years ago Dr Katilius developed a wound care program and dedicated wound care unit at Symphony Care Center of Joliet and continues to serve as medical director of the program.
Dr. Katilius is a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Trauma Society, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Will-Grundy County Medical Society and a member of the American College of Surgeons.
He is fluent in Lithuanian and active in the Lithuanian community.
Dr. Katilius performs a multitude of surgical procedures including:
